Military.com Native American veterans battling Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) find relief and healing through an alternative treatment called the Sweat Lodge ceremony offered at the Spokane Veterans Administration Hospital. In the Arizona desert, wounded warriors from the Hopi Nation can join in a ceremony called Wiping Away the Tears. The traditional cleansing ritual helps dispel a chronic "ghost sickness" that can haunt survivors of battle. This is the first time I have heard about The Sweat Lodge ceremony. This alternative form of therapy is most welcome by patients who are looking for methods that they feel serve their purposes. What is needed, I think, is full information on what it can do. Thus, it would be best if patients or interested parties must be educated on the entire process and the potential consequences. 3/20/2015 09:02:10 pm
